Systems Engineer, AWS

In this role you will help design and operate scalable cloud infrastructure within AWS UC. You’ll diagnose root causes of customer issues, monitor metrics, and drive automation to reduce toil. You will leverage Linux, networking, and scripting to keep services reliable at massive scale. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to improve capacity, performance, and reliability, contributing to AWS’s mission to provide world-class, secure cloud services. • Diagnose root causes of customer issues and investigate metric anomalies
• Collaborate with senior engineers to implement fixes and workarounds
• Automate manual operational tasks to improve efficiency
• Troubleshoot Linux-based systems across application, network, and host layers
• Maintain up-to-date software and manage capacity and service efficiency using data and metrics
• Identify and resolve network connectivity issues using networking knowledge
• Communicate clearly and collaborate with teams to deliver results
• Operate with a customer-obsessed mindset and handle out-of-hours support as needed

• Working knowledge of Linux system administration
• Strong troubleshooting skills across application, network, and host levels
• Experience with systems automation using Bash, Python, Perl, etc
• Experience with network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
• Exposure to cloud computing concepts
• Knowledge of configuration management systems such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible
