Systems Integrator

Octopus Energy

London · Greater London · United Kingdom

Overview

In this role you will enable OEGEN’s shift to a data-centric, AI-enabled operating model by integrating systems, building data products, and delivering internal tools. You’ll connect third-party and internal systems to our Databricks environment, then turn those connections into reusable datasets and AI-enabled workflows used by fund management, asset management and finance. You’ll shape the playbook for how systems are connected and tools are built, while collaborating with central data and AI teams. This is a hands-on bridge between integration and product build, with impact across operations and governance.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate third-party systems, internal tools, and SharePoint/Microsoft 365 into the Databricks environment using APIs and connectors
  • Build data products on top of integrations—reusable datasets accessible via Excel dashboards and natural-language querying
  • Design and ship internal apps and AI-enabled tools (Python, Streamlit, Databricks Apps, Lakebase, FastAPI) for fund management, asset management and finance
  • Prototype, evaluate and productionise AI capabilities (document AI, retrieval, agents) turning ideas into supported products
  • Adopt existing group capabilities and configure them for OEGEN rather than duplicating effort
  • Set up guardrails for Databricks access, permissions, and environment hygiene
  • Move cost management from reactive to proactive (tagging, budgets, alerting, usage monitoring)
  • Credential and log AI usage with managed keys and clean embedding patterns
  • Standardise internal app development (templates, auth, deployment, documentation)
  • Consolidate ad-hoc scripts and no-code workflows into maintainable integrations
  • Engage with non-technical teams to translate problems into buildable solutions
  • Collaborate with central data platform team to align with wider estate and roadmap
Key requirements
  • Strong systems integration experience (REST APIs, connectors, authentication flows)
  • Track record of shipping data products or internal applications used by business
  • Solid Python and SQL for building, automation and data modelling
  • Hands-on production experience with a cloud data platform (Databricks preferred)
  • Practical experience integrating AI into tools (LLM APIs, retrieval, agents)
  • Identity and access management experience (SSO, service accounts, credentials)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 / SharePoint integration
  • Experience controlling cloud/AI usage costs and attribution
  • Pragmatic approach to adopting existing infrastructure over building anew
  • Clear communication and ability to explain trade-offs to non-technical and technical audiences
  • Comfort with ownership in a small team and setting working patterns
  • Clear communication
  • Pragmatism
  • Ownership mindset
  • Python
  • SQL
  • Databricks (workspaces, catalogs, permissions)
