Overview

In this Lead Engineer role, you will plan and deliver verification activities across the full product lifecycle for complex defence systems. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to build robust evidence for acceptance, certification and delivery to customers. You’ll develop test strategies, execute lab-based verification, and collaborate with Systems, Software, Mechanical and Electrical engineers to resolve technical queries. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position that shapes how products meet requirements and verification standards. You will join an international defence organisation that values rigorous engineering and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Define and execute verification activities across the design and development lifecycle
  • Develop test strategies, procedures and verification scenarios against system and software requirements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Systems, Software, Mechanical, Electrical)
  • Identify, record and manage defects; drive resolution with development teams
  • Own allocated tasks and ensure delivery against schedule, cost, quality and performance
  • Manage requirements, verification scenarios, test procedures and evidence using tools (IBM DOORS, IBM Rhapsody)
  • Conduct hands-on lab work with software, test equipment and hardware under test
  • Support product acceptance, certification and customer delivery with robust evidence
  • Respond to technical queries from customers and internal stakeholders
  • Review and validate technical publications to reflect product requirements and behaviour
  • Contribute to documentation and technical peer reviews
  • Build strong relations across the international defence organisation
Key requirements
  • Experience in systems engineering foundations and working in requirements, verification or test environments
  • Experience using requirements and verification management tools (IBM DOORS or similar)
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Experience in requirements engineering at System, Subsystem or Component level
  • Knowledge of hardware design and how hardware and software interact in complex systems
  • Experience developing or executing test procedures and gathering evidence for compliance
  • Understanding of verification and validation (V&V) for product acceptance and certification
  • Strong communication skills to present technical information to teams, stakeholders and customers
  • Experience producing technical reports and engineering documentation
