Overview

In this role you will join the Electronic Warfare Operations Support Group to plan and execute RF-focused trials in a state-of-the-art lab. You will support preparation, execution, and reporting of laboratory-based test activities, contributing to safe, traceable, high-quality outcomes. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team, learning from senior engineers, and help bring EW scenarios to life through hands-on testing and evidence-driven decisions. This is a hands-on, collaborative position with a clear impact on customer decisions and mission readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare trials: set up equipment and environments, verify asset readiness, prepare data and documentation, ensure tools, access and safety controls
  • Execute trials: follow procedures, operate test equipment safely, record configurations for traceability
  • Support lab-based trials from prep to post-activity reporting: capture results, raise issues, assist fault-finding and re-test, contribute to timely customer-facing reporting
  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team and engage with customers and internal stakeholders to understand objectives and acceptance criteria, communicate progress, and maintain documentation
  • Ensure alignment with engineering standards and governance, escalate issues when needed
  • Contribute to safety and safe systems of work, and maintain clear trial notes and evidence packs
  • Develop capability through coaching and exposure to multiple projects and trial activities
  • Coordinate with internal support (facilities, security, IT) to enable test activities
  • Maintain traceable records and documentation through configuration management and document control
Key requirements
  • 2+ years hands-on experience supporting or delivering test, trials, integration, commissioning or verification in lab/workshop environments
  • Ability to follow procedures and work methodically to deliver safe, repeatable outcomes
  • Practical knowledge of test and measurement equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analysis, signal generation, power measurement) and safe data recording
  • Networking fundamentals for lab setups (diagrams, cabling, IP addressing) and awareness of when to involve network SMEs
  • RF fundamentals (frequency, bandwidth, power levels, dB/dBm, attenuation) and safe RF handling
  • Strong practical engineering mindset with hands-on setup, fault-finding and re-test
  • Good organisation and evidence capture skills for clear trial records
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate progress clearly
  • Safety-conscious approach and ability to work within safe systems of work
  • Some exposure to Electronic Warfare or quick learning of new mission domains
