We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Analyst to join our team.
Purpose of the position:
As a Tax Analyst, you will build your technical tax expertise while working with a diverse client base. You will collaborate closely with managers, senior managers, and partners on tax compliance, research, and planning engagements, gaining exposure to a wide range of tax matters. This role offers the opportunity to develop your professional skills, expand your knowledge of Canadian taxation, and contribute to delivering high-quality service to our clients.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Prepare and review corporate, trust, personal, and occasional partnership tax returns.
- Prepare and file various tax elections, forms, and information returns.
- Ensure tax filings are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Assist tax partners and senior team members with tax planning engagements for owner-managed businesses, corporations, trusts, and individuals.
- Conduct research on Canadian income tax legislation, regulations, and CRA administrative positions.
- Assist in developing solutions for routine and non-routine tax matters.
- Respond to client and internal requests and tax-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate professionally with clients, government agencies, and internal team members regarding tax matters.
- Manage competing deadlines for multiple partners and managers while providing quality service to clients.
- Regularly communicate with managers on the status of files.
- Proactively use resources to solve problems prior to escalating questions to a manager.
- Assess file workload and communicate budget updates to a manager.
- Ensure time worked on each file is accurately recorded in the practice management system.
- Provide guidance to junior and co-op team members.
- Other duties, as assigned.
What you offer:
- Minimum 12 months of experience in tax, accounting or a similar role within a public accounting firm, including at least one busy season.
- Graduate of a post-secondary accounting or finance program.
- CPA designation completed or actively being pursued, with expected completion within the next 6–12 months, preferred.
- Enrolled in or interested in pursuing the CPA In-Depth Tax Program.
- Working knowledge of Canadian income tax legislation and compliance requirements.
- Strong client service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Reviews own work for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to firm standards prior to submission for review.
- Organized and dependable with strong follow-through.
- Receptive to feedback and able to apply established procedures consistently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep software is considered an asset.

This posting is to fill an existing vacancy. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $85,000 per year. Compensation within the posted range will be based on the successful candidate's qualifications, experience and skills.
