This Tax Manager opportunity is with an established full-service CPA firm in Burlington working primarily with privately owned and entrepreneurial businesses. The tax practice covers compliance, planning, reorganizations, estate and succession work, M&A and cross-border matters.
You’ll combine technical client work with leadership of the tax team, working closely with Partners while becoming a key point of contact for clients.

What you’ll be doing:
- Review T1, T2 and T3 tax returns
- Review GST/HST and other indirect tax filings
- Review T1134s, T106s and foreign affiliate reporting
- Lead complex tax compliance and planning engagements
- Advise clients on corporate reorganizations and tax-efficient structures
- Support mergers, acquisitions and other transactions
- Become involved in estate and succession planning
- Advise on cross-border tax matters
- Handle CRA audit queries and assist with tax disputes
- Identify tax planning opportunities across your client portfolio
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients
- Manage engagement budgets, workflow and deadlines
- Review work completed by members of the tax team
- Mentor, coach and develop junior and senior staff
- Provide technical guidance internally
- Work closely with Partners on more complex client matters
- Contribute to improvements across the wider tax department
What they’re looking for:
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
- 5–7+ years of Canadian public accounting experience
- 3–4+ years in a tax-focused position
- Previous leadership experience within a CPA firm
- Strong experience reviewing T1s, T2s and T3s
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and Ontario taxation
- Corporate tax planning experience
- Experience with reorganizations, estate planning or succession work
- Exposure to CRA audits and tax disputes
- Experience with T1134/T106 or foreign reporting would be valuable
- Comfortable managing clients directly
- Experience mentoring and reviewing the work of staff
- CaseWare, TaxPrep, CCH iFirm or similar software experience
- Previous CPA firm/public accounting experience required
