Tax Manager
Distinct | North America
There's a point in tax where knowing how to prepare the return is assumed.
What becomes more valuable is knowing what should happen before the return is prepared at all.
This opportunity is with an established CPA firm in Concord, working with privately held businesses, owner-managed companies, individuals and trusts across both tax compliance and planning.
You'll be reviewing work, managing clients and developing staff, but you'll also stay close enough to the technical work to actually use the tax knowledge you've spent years building.
Why consider it:
Concord location
Broad corporate, personal and trust tax exposure
Genuine tax planning responsibility
Direct Partner and client involvement
Opportunity to manage and develop staff
Mix of compliance, research and advisory
Autonomy over your own client engagements
Long-term progression within the firm
What you'll be doing:
Review corporate T2 tax returns
Review personal T1 and trust T3 returns
Prepare more complex returns where required
Identify tax planning opportunities for clients
Work with Partners on more complex tax matters
Research Canadian tax legislation and technical issues
Manage multiple tax engagements and deadlines
Act as a senior point of contact for clients
Review work prepared by junior and intermediate staff
Provide technical guidance and review notes
Coach and mentor developing accountants
Support clients with CRA-related matters
Assist with tax planning projects throughout the year
Help improve internal tax processes and file quality
What they're looking for:
5+ years of Canadian public accounting experience
Experience reviewing T1, T2 and T3 returns
Previous tax planning experience
Strong understanding of Canadian income tax legislation
Experience managing client relationships
Previous experience reviewing and developing staff
Comfortable researching more complex tax issues
Ability to manage several engagements simultaneously
CPA In-Depth Tax Program would be an asset
