Overview

As Team Lead of Data Science, you will guide a high-performing data science team to build impactful models and insights that inform strategy across business units. You’ll partner with engineering and product to deploy analytics in production and mentor colleagues. The role combines leadership with hands-on ML work to advance Deel’s data capabilities and growth. You’ll operate in a fast-paced, global environment, shaping data-driven decisions at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of data scientists to deliver high-impact data models, algorithms, and insights for various business units
  • Develop and execute data science projects aligned with business objectives and timelines
  • Guide the team in applying machine learning techniques to solve complex business problems and improve decision-making
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deploy data models and analytics into production
  • Mentor and coach junior data scientists and foster growth
  • Develop and maintain best practices for data science workflows ensuring reproducibility and reliability
  • Drive innovation by staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data science
  • Ensure data model integrity, accuracy, and scalability
  • Communicate data insights and model outcomes to non-technical stakeholders including leadership
  • Oversee continuous improvement of data processes, methodologies, and tools within the team
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in data science with strong ML, statistics, and data modeling background
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing a data science team
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL
  • Strong experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
  • Expertise in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization tools (Pandas, Matplotlib, Tableau)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and distributed computing (Spark)
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
  • Strong communication skills to present findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
