In this Tech Lead Manager role, you guide a small team while staying hands-on, shaping the architecture of Lakebase across reliability, proxy, or storage. You’ll drive high-quality delivery, define technical standards, and mentor engineers, aligning dependencies with partner teams. The opportunity combines technical leadership with people management, enabling you to influence a fast-growing data and AI platform. You will work on scalable distributed systems at a global scale, contributing to a mission-driven Lakebase initiative.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of ~5 engineers, owning execution and timely delivery
  • Stay hands-on: design, architect, and implement core parts of the stack
  • Set and uphold high technical standards through reviews, tests, and engineering excellence
  • Mentor engineers with clear feedback and career development
  • Coordinate with partner teams to unblock cross-cutting Lakebase projects
  • Collaborate with engineering and product leaders to shape a long-term roadmap
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with time as tech lead or senior engineer
  • Strong hands-on depth in system design and coding for large-scale distributed services
  • Experience with testing, monitoring, and SLAs in distributed environments
  • People management or tech lead experience
  • Ability to align multiple stakeholders and balance short-term vs long-term goals
  • BS in Computer Science or related field
