Intent of the process
The RCMP is strengthening its federal policing capacity as part of the RCMP1000 initiative, a Government of Canada priority aimed at addressing evolving threats such as transnational and organized crime, financial crime, cybercrime, and national security investigations.
To support this work, the RCMP is staffing public service positions that play an important role in day-to-day operations and the delivery of key priorities.A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Operational Requirements
Willingness and ability to support a 24/7 system, including participation in an on-call rotation

EDUCATION
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
EXPERIENCE
- Recent experience working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to develop IT solutions to meet business needs
- Experience providing expert technical advice on IT systems
- Significant experience in gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements and providing technical advice to various stakeholders in the delivery of IT applications.

**Significant is defined as the experience that would normally be obtained in two (2) years by performing the full range of activities noted.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of current government-wide initiatives that affect the management of Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT)

- Experience supporting, maintaining, or deploying Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems
- Experience designing, architecting, and implementing enterprise-scale data engineering solutions, including one or more of the following: data pipelines, data integration frameworks, data lakes/lakehouses, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or Event Hubs)
- Recent experience designing and implementing enterprise data models, including dimensional modeling techniques such as star schemas, snowflake schemas, galaxy/fact constellation schemas, and other analytical data structures to support reporting, business intelligence, analytics, and data science requirements
- Recent experience with installing, configuring and supporting software or COTS applications in Linux or Windows environments
- Recent experience in application programming using one or more of the following database products: Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL
