Technical Author

Technical Author | Lancashire (Hybrid) | Up to £50,000

A fantastic client of ours is looking for a Technical Author to join their product and engineering team. You'll be responsible for creating and maintaining clear, accurate documentation for new and changing functionality across a complex software platform working embedded within the product development lifecycle rather than as an afterthought.

What you'll be doing:

• Creating and maintaining user-facing documentation for new features, enhancements and product changes
• Developing technical documentation including API docs, integration guides, configuration documentation and release information
• Working directly with product managers, developers and solution architects to gather, clarify and validate information
• Ensuring documentation is ready to support product releases and aligned to the established documentation framework
• Participating in documentation reviews, product walkthroughs and stakeholder workshops
• Contributing to continuous improvement of documentation standards, processes and tooling
• Identifying opportunities to improve accessibility and usability of documentation across the business

You’ll need:

• Professional experience as a Technical Author or Technical Writer creating documentation for SaaS or complex enterprise software
• Experience independently researching and documenting new or changing software functionality
• Strong technical writing skills and be able to turn complex information into clear, user-focused content for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience working within Agile development environments
• Experience with topic-based or structured authoring
• Proficiency with professional documentation or help-authoring tools
• Experience documenting APIs and integrations
• Familiarity with Jira as part of a documentation workflow
• Experience with platforms such as ClickHelp, MadCap Flare, Paligo or Document360
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS

What's on offer:
