Overview

As Power & Propulsion Technical Authority for the River Class Destroyer program, you ensure technical integrity, safety and performance of critical ship systems. You provide expert guidance to customers, engineers and vendors across the lifecycle, driving compliant, high-quality propulsion solutions. The role involves leading design reviews, certification activities and system acceptance within a major naval programme with international collaboration. This is a senior, impact-focused position in a global defence environment with travel opportunities to Canada and Europe.

Responsibilities
  • Approve key design and safety documentation as Technical Authority across the engineering lifecycle
  • Oversee specification, design, test and acceptance of vendor-supplied Power & Propulsion equipment ensuring compliance with requirements
  • Provide guidance on product safety, environmental and regulatory requirements; support related assurance activities
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver work packages in line with programme plans and governance
  • Lead certification activities, design reviews and stakeholder groups to support system acceptance
Key requirements
  • Degree qualified in a STEM subject
  • Chartered Engineer (or equivalent)
  • Experience in design, manufacture, qualification and acceptance of marine Power & Propulsion Systems
  • Experience with naval standards and defence regulatory requirements
  • Experience in managing an Engineering delivery team
