Overview

In this role you will support the NHS Pension Scheme administration by applying detailed pensions knowledge to advise on regulations and legislation. You will work within the NHS Pensions Technical Consultancy Team, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex technical matters. You will help shape policy changes and produce technical guidance and communications. This is a chance to grow your pensions career in a collaborative, impactful public sector environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance on NHS Pension Scheme regulations and UK pensions legislation
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical enquiries from customers and stakeholders
  • Analyse information, perform calculations, and draft accurate technical responses
  • Monitor legislative developments and assess impact on pension administration
  • Create/update technical guidance, operational procedures, and communications for customers
  • Support development of scheme literature, newsletters, and website content
  • Build relationships with scheme employers, teams, and external stakeholders
  • Deliver coaching and mentoring to colleagues and contribute to team improvements
  • Manage workloads to meet service levels and statutory requirements
  • Produce reports supporting operational decision-making

Key requirements
  • GCSEs including English and Maths
  • Significant experience in public sector pensions technical activity
  • Ability to interpret complex pension legislation and communicate it to different audiences
  • Proficiency in creating/drafting technical guidance and scheme literature
  • Experience in a customer-service oriented, regulated environment
  • Strong numeracy, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage own workload
  • Experience with Microsoft packages
  • Effective communication across audiences
  • Mentoring and coaching abilities
  • Strong time management and prioritisation
  • Understanding of NHS Pension Scheme regulations and overriding legislation
  • Ability to draft technical guides from legislation and guidance
  • Analytical thinking and impact assessment of legislative changes
