Overview

In this role you will act as the senior technical authority for DNTS (UK), leading technology strategy, architecture and delivery assurance across defence and public-sector programmes. You’ll shape direction, inform investment, and enable successful delivery with a focus on credibility, risk management and large-scale, mission-critical solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to differentiate KBR’s capabilities and support bid and customer outcomes. This is a CTO-equivalent position offering measurable impact on technical strategy and execution.

Responsibilities
  • Own and drive DNTS (UK) technical direction aligned with MTS strategy and defence priorities
  • Be accountable for technical strategy, architectural integrity and quality across priority programmes and pursuits
  • Set and maintain the technical bar for DNTS and ensure robust delivery
  • Provide hands-on senior technical leadership into complex programmes and critical design decisions
  • Act as senior authority for technical risk, trade-offs and architectural integrity
  • Ensure technical risks are actively managed to protect outcomes and trust
  • Lead identification and application of emerging technologies (AI/ML, cyber resilience, digital engineering, secure cloud)
  • Influence technical investment decisions linking capability development to mission value and ROI
  • Develop customer understanding and translate needs into credible technical approaches
  • Play a direct role in major bids, captures and customer engagements as senior technical leader
  • Represent KBR with defence, government and partner stakeholders to strengthen confidence in capability and delivery
  • Set and uphold technical standards, governance and best practice across DNTS in alignment with MTS frameworks
  • Ensure compliance with UK/international defence standards including cyber security and classified systems
  • Provide independent technical assurance to protect quality and credibility
  • Mentor DNTS technical community and build leadership capability
  • Foster accountability, technical excellence, innovation and delivery focus across DNTS/MTS
Key requirements
  • Strong background in defence, security, nuclear or government sectors
  • Experience with technical strategy, architecture, assurance and delivery across complex programmes
  • Ability to support business development, capture activities and customer engagement
  • Experience with UK MOD, NATO and/or Five Eyes programmes
  • Comfort operating in complex, federated organisations with senior stakeholders
  • Expertise in secure systems architecture, cyber operations, digital engineering and mission-critical platforms
