Technical Director

In this role you coordinate architectural and engineering design across the regional office, ensuring all planning and building regulation approvals are met. You lead a technical team, manage budgets, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to deliver compliant, value-driven schemes. You’ll influence design outcomes, safety practices, and project performance while supporting regional growth and strategic objectives.

• Lead the delivery of technical design and approvals for regional projects
• Manage budgets, fees, and staff costs to ensure cost-effective performance
• Coordinate and track actions from cross-department meetings
• Ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into design decisions
• Undertake monthly site visits with Board members
• Develop and train technical staff; fulfil Principal Designer role under CDM
• Provide technical support to Production, Land, Sales, and Commercial teams
• Advise Board on technical changes and market competitors
• Drive value management and ensure forecast regional financial targets are met

• Extensive experience in design, construction and delivery of civil engineering infrastructure, traffic, and transportation
• Ability to critique development layouts from urban design and engineering perspectives
• Ability to conduct feasibility studies and prepare fee budget estimates; support land purchases
• Membership of a relevant professional body
• Appropriate degree level qualification (BSc/BEng in Construction Management)
• Postgraduate degree in Management
