Technical Director

As Technical Director, you lead the regional architectural and engineering design coordination to ensure compliant, cost-effective schemes. You’ll manage the technical team, oversee planning and building regulation approvals, and maintain safety standards. You’ll travel for site reviews with the Board and mentor staff, while aligning design work with project budgets and corporate objectives. • Lead and manage the regional technical design team delivering projects from concept to approvals
• Monitor budgets and professional fees to ensure cost-efficient performance
• Coordinate cross-department meetings and capture actions with timely follow-up
• Ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into design decisions
• Conduct monthly site visits with Board involvement
• Develop staff capabilities through training and development
• Fulfil Principal Designer role under CDM regulations
• Provide technical support to Production, Land, Sales, and Commercial teams
• Advise Board on technical changes and competitive landscape
• Manage designs to meet regional financial targets and implement value management strategies

• Extensive experience in civil engineering infrastructure, traffic, and transportation design and delivery
• Ability to critique development layouts from urban design and engineering perspectives
• Ability to assess architectural and engineering drawings
• Experience in feasibility studies and fee budget estimation; support for land purchases
• Membership of a relevant professional body
• Appropriate degree level qualification (BSc/BEng, Construction Management, etc.)
• Postgraduate Degree in Management (preferred)
