In this Mechanical Director role, you will lead the Data Centre CA team within AECOM’s Data Centres Market Sector, driving multi-disciplinary design delivery and client success across the UK and EMEA. You’ll shape project outcomes through strong leadership, risk-aware delivery, and proactive work winning, contributing to AECOM’s growth in hyperscale and co-location markets. This role anchors thought leadership and collaboration with global colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality service. You’ll partner with clients to understand their business and deliver on ambitious data centre projects.

- Lead and develop the Data Centre CA team across multiple disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Civil, Ground Engineering, Landscape, Mechanical, Electrical, BAS, Telecoms, Security, Public Health, Fire Engineering, LEED)
- Provide Principal Designer and Responsible Designer services during construction interfacing with AHJ and GCs
- Coordinate multi-discipline, site-based teams supported by design teams
- Deliver design services throughout construction to accommodate client and GC-driven changes
- Maintain consistent approach across projects for CA services across sites with different GCs and client reps
- Support Work Winning and Business Development using a strong DC sector pipeline
- Provide programme management and commercial oversight to ensure delivery commitments
- Monitor project risk and implement mitigation strategies and KPI tracking
- Ensure seamless, on-time delivery of Mechanical services across the region
- Engage with clients to understand their business structures and cultural needs, proactively addressing market changes
- Strong background in delivering Mechanical or Electrical projects in Data Centres and Mission Critical Environments
- Experience leading DC project work streams in UK and ideally across EMEA
- Proven client-facing and work-winning capabilities
- Demonstrated leadership and people-development skills
- Deep knowledge of M&E design, engineering practices, and interfaces with clients in Data Centres
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage project financials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid financial understanding to drive project success
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline; Chartered Engineer (CEng) with CIBSE or equivalent
