Job Description

Hybrid working - our approach is to be in the office or on client site a minimum of 2 days per week; actual time and location will vary by role or assignment, up to 5 days per week on a client site.

• Work with the Digital & Data team to deliver innovative software solutions alongside product, design and multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage and technically lead a software engineering team.
• Lead product design, architecture and continuous improvement of software projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across seven sectors on a broad variety of projects and tech stacks.
• Provide mentorship to engineers and foster continuous improvement.
• Lead technical teams through complex challenges, guiding clients toward successful digital transformations.
• Work within Agile best practices and cross‑functional coordination.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert during bidding and client proposals.

Technologies you will work with:

• Frameworks: Vue, Angular, React, Node, Next, Spring, Spring Boot, .NET, ASP.NET
• Application of AI throughout the SDLC (e.g., using MCP to combine tools).

Qualifications

• Experience managing and leading a software engineering team.
• Soft‑skills to interact with clients, demonstrating credibility in technology and delivery.
• Capability in shaping end‑to‑end software delivery lifecycle, driving improvements across development, testing, deployment, and operation.
• Implementation of infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD, and release management strategies.
• System performance enhancement using load testing, caching and optimisation of database queries and application logic.
• Expertise in modern engineering standards such as TDD, contract testing and secure coding, and architectural patterns like event‑driven architecture and platform migration.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving to create long‑term solutions.
• Collaborative experience with multiple stakeholders in fast‑paced environments.
• Experience providing technical expertise to shape bids and client proposals, and presenting approaches to prospective clients.
