Technical Lead

In this Technical Lead role, you will act as the technical authority for EHV substation design within Murphy's Energy BU. You will lead Engineering and Design Management teams, establish design strategies, and oversee technical risk mitigation across regional projects. You will collaborate with customers, supply chain partners, and OEMs to drive value, standardisation, and compliance with CDM 2015. This position offers exposure to complex EPC projects across multiple countries and a focus on sustainable, innovative solutions in the power sector.

• Act as the technical authority for EHV substation design delivery and support across projects
• Lead development and implementation of design engineering strategies within the regional framework
• Identify technical risks and implement mitigation measures across assignments
• Provide technical oversight and internal assurance for EHV substation design
• Guide and challenge supply chain partners, including consultants and OEMs
• Drive value engineering and design standardisation to improve time, cost, safety, or carbon
• Fulfil Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015 Regulations, including appointing PD Representatives
• Support commercial/procurement teams with accurate scope definition and contractual matters

• Time served in a management role in the engineering function of a major UK contractor
• Significant experience in management of engineering for civil engineering or energy-related projects
• Knowledge of project management processes and contract management
