Overview

In this Technical Lead role you guide a cross-functional squad to build scalable, high-quality products that improve customer and merchant experiences. You ll blend hands-on engineering with mentoring and architectural decisions to set engineering standards. You ll partner with Product and Data teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable systems while improving delivery speed and quality. This is a remote UK position with a growing, values-driven scale-up that emphasises collaboration, innovation, and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example with high-quality, maintainable code for the platform at scale
  • Define the squad's technical direction and enable sound engineering decisions
  • Mentor engineers through one-on-ones, reviews, and development plans
  • Collaborate with Product to turn ideas into scalable solutions
  • Partner with Data to ensure features generate insights and outcomes
  • Own performance, scalability, reliability, and security throughout design and development
  • Monitor delivery to reduce cycle times and improve deployment frequency while preserving quality
  • Contribute to platform modernisation via architecture discussions and best practices
  • Foster curiosity by recommending new tools, frameworks, and methodologies
  • Support recruitment by reviewing assessments, interviewing candidates, and promoting a diverse team
Key requirements
  • Proven experience as a senior or lead software engineer in SaaS, MarTech, or data-driven environments
  • Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Framework)
  • Frontend experience with React and TypeScript is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and build high-performing teams
  • Experience leading in agile, cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP/AWS)
  • Solid understanding of software design, testing practices, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Comfortable influencing technical decisions to align with business goals
  • Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration with Product and Data teams
