Overview

As Technical Lead, you own the overall technical solution and guide delivery across projects, balancing risk, quality, and outcomes. You’ll serve as the main technical contact for clients and partners, shaping architecture and roadmaps while supporting decision-making. You’ll collaborate with fellow technical leads and contribute to Agile flows to boost team performance. This role sits at the intersection of software, data, and AI-enabled workflows in a mission-driven environment that aims to make the UK safer.

Responsibilities
  • Define solution architecture and delivery roadmap with focus on security, availability, observability, scalability, performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
  • Guide technical delivery across projects and ensure adherence to standards for quality and documentation
  • Identify and escalate technical risks with management and delivery leads
  • Support backlog prioritisation with Delivery Lead and Product Owner
  • Act as mentor and role model; lead design reviews and drive agile practices
  • Collaborate with development teams on full-stack development (React, AWS, databases like MongoDB/Elasticsearch) and integrate AI into data processing and user workflows
  • Coordinate with Platform Engineers on infrastructure (Kubernetes) and automated delivery pipelines (GitLab)
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure successful outcomes
Key requirements
  • Proven experience in solution architecture and technical leadership
  • Strong understanding of security, availability, observability, scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency in complex projects
  • Experience mentoring teams and guiding agile project delivery
  • Proficiency in full-stack development with React, Java/TypeScript/Python, and integrating AWS services
  • Experience with databases (MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and data processing pipelines
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure management (Kubernetes, GitLab)
  • Ability to engage with customers and stakeholders and influence decisions
