Technical Lead

Overview

In this Technical Lead role, you will steer systems engineering across complex, multi-supplier environments for a flagship national infrastructure programme. You will work with engineering, architecture and project teams to ensure secure, fit-for-purpose IT services. You’ll lead technical decision-making, design assurance, and change assessment while mentoring engineers. This role offers impact on mission-critical systems with cross-functional collaboration and a clear path for technical growth.

• Provide authoritative technical direction across on-premise and cloud systems
• Lead design assurance, trade-offs and decisions aligned with requirements
• Apply Systems Engineering across the full lifecycle (V-Model) and own key artefacts
• Lead RFC technical impact assessments and define scope, risks, and estimates
• Engage with customer stakeholders, explain complex topics clearly
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, governance and security policies
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote engineering best practices

• Proven experience as Technical Lead or Senior Systems Engineer on large-scale IT programmes
• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering concepts and lifecycle management
• Broad understanding of infrastructure, networks, applications and cloud environments
• Experience leading design, integration and change in a high-assurance setting
• Excellent communication with customers and senior stakeholders
