Technical Lead (Python, AWS, Terraform Experience)

As Tech Lead, you steer the technical direction of multiple services while contributing hands-on in the software lifecycle. You will balance architecture, delivery, and quality across diverse projects, including government-facing work, collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role combines leadership with practical coding to produce high-quality features. You’ll work on a mix of run-and-maintain and transformative initiatives, using a range of technologies. • Lead technical teams and define architectural strategy for multiple services
• Deliver high-quality code and oversee full software development lifecycle
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and Delivery teams to balance technical and business needs
• Champion quality assurance, code reviews, and process optimisation
• Guide design-to-implementation efforts and translate customer requirements into technical designs
• Mentor and coach developers to foster a collaborative, high-performing culture
• Work across projects to implement best practices and ensure user-centered development
• Engage with stakeholders and manage delivery across multidisciplinary environments

• Experience leading technical teams with ability to define strategy and architecture
• Full-stack or backend background with Python and TypeScript (or similar)
• Cloud infra experience with AWS or Azure and Terraform
• Experience delivering UK Government digital services with understanding of GDS/NHS Service Standard
• Strong collaboration across Product, UCD, and Delivery teams
• Ability to balance technical, user, and business priorities
• User-centered mindset throughout development lifecycle
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to non-technical audiences
• Proven track record in QA, code reviews, and process improvement
• Experience delivering projects from analysis through QA and implementation
