Overview

As a Technical Lead in Assystem's Defence team, you will steer technically challenging projects and mentor engineering delivery teams. You’ll define technical direction, ensure quality and regulatory compliance, and maintain strong client relationships. You’ll act as the main technical contact, report progress and risks, and lead bids to grow the defence portfolio. This role combines hands-on leadership with cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality solutions at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to engineering delivery teams
  • Lead the technical direction, solution development and delivery of engineering projects within the account
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Ensure engineers understand project requirements, technical methods and processes
  • Lead Change Control activities across assigned projects
  • Own technical quality and ensure deliverables meet contractual and client requirements
  • Act as primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Report on technical status, progress, risks and performance of projects
  • Ensure compliance with technical, quality and regulatory standards including QMS
  • Support business growth by developing technical proposals and engineering solutions
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships with the Technical Director to identify new opportunities
  • Lead the technical aspects of bids and tenders, including scope, methodologies and estimates
Key requirements
  • 2+ years managing and delivering engineering projects, including leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience delivering projects using a Systems Engineering approach (requirements capture, validation, verification)
  • Experience across infrastructure projects from Concept Design through Detailed Design and Installation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple teams and organisations
  • Experience within Nuclear and/or Defence industry
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, Machinery Directive, and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
  • Experience with QMS and BMS
  • NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts experience is advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
