At BAM UK & Ireland, we deliver some of the UK's most challenging infrastructure and construction projects. Our Temporary Works Centre of Excellence (CoE) is at the heart of ensuring safe, innovative and technically robust engineering solutions across BAM UK & Ireland.

We are seeking a Technical Lead - Temporary Works to provide technical leadership across the business and drive excellence in temporary works engineering.

This is a key strategic role within the Temporary Works CoE, acting as BAM UK & Ireland's technical authority and Designated Individual (DI) for Temporary Works Design. You will shape technical standards, lead engineering assurance, develop engineering capability and champion innovation across our projects and design teams.

As Technical Lead - Temporary Works, you will:

  • Act as BAM UK & Ireland's technical authority for temporary works design.
  • Provide expert guidance and assurance on complex and high-risk engineering challenges.
  • Lead technical governance, audits and design assurance activities across the business.
  • Develop and maintain temporary works standards, procedures and best practice.
  • Drive engineering excellence, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Lead competency, training and professional development programmes for temporary works designers.
  • Support recruitment, succession planning and capability development within the Temporary Works CoE.
  • Oversee technical performance and assurance of external design partners.
  • Champion innovation, digital engineering and new approaches to temporary works delivery.
What do you bring to the role?
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE, IStructE or equivalent.
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in temporary works design, assurance and engineering governance.
  • Strong knowledge of BS 5975, CDM Regulations and temporary works management.
  • Experience acting as a technical authority on complex engineering projects.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams.
  • Experience delivering technical audits, assurance reviews and competency assessments.
  • A passion for technical excellence, innovation and developing people.
