Overview

In this role you will lead legacy design and fire-safety remediation work for a PLC developer, guiding liability assessment and corrective actions. You report to the Technical Director and coordinate with a technical coordinator to drive investigations, planning, and stakeholder communications. You’ll oversee multi-disciplinary input, liaise with external parties, and manage regulatory and NHBC approvals. The opportunity offers long-term work, autonomy, and a board-level interface within a stability-focused team.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and review enquiries related to fire safety and legacy matters
  • Conduct initial liability and responsibility assessments for the developer
  • Coordinate with customer care to provide timely responses
  • Develop strategic action plans addressing liability, costs, programme, and risks
  • Scope and supervise investigations to determine remedial actions
  • Coordinate with commercial, communications, customer care, project directors, and legal representatives
  • Engage external stakeholders including managing agents, freeholders, and leaseholders
  • Appoint third-party consultants and define subcontractor scopes
  • Oversee production and review of design information and recommendations
  • Prepare internal progress, cost, and programme reports
  • Draft communications to customers and stakeholders
  • Review CDP provisions and establish budget needs for the year ahead
  • Drive cross-discipline input to ensure timely progression and closure
  • Capture lessons learned to reduce CDP costs
  • Manage NHBC/regulatory approvals
  • Provide day-to-day and strategic input to the Fire and Legacy Team
Key requirements
  • Design or technical background
  • Experience as a Technical Manager at a developer or as a Design Manager at a consultancy
  • Long-term commitment to legacy design and construction analysis
  • Senior-level capability to assess liability
  • Strong external stakeholder communication
  • Ability to handle emotive subject matter confidently and lead cross-disciplinary progress
  • High diligence and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of MHCLG fire safety requirements, EWS1, façades, Building Regulations Part B
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong communication with external stakeholders
