YOUR DAY-TO-DAY ROLE

At the heart of our business, you will lead our Mechanical and Bodyshop teams, driving safe, efficient, and high-quality repair and maintenance operations. You will manage workshop performance, develop skilled technicians, and ensure exceptional standards of quality, productivity, and customer service are consistently achieved.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and develop Mechanical and Bodyshop teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
  • Oversee daily workshop performance, ensuring productivity, quality, and customer targets are achieved.
  • Drive continuous improvement, introducing best practices and technical innovations.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and ISO standards.
  • Manage departmental resources, budgets, equipment, and supplier relationships.
  • Monitor performance, analyse key metrics, and drive operational excellence through effective reporting.

YOUR PROFILE

Education,skills and experience

We're looking for a strong technical leader with a proven track record in automotive workshop operations and team management. You will have:

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Automotive Mechanics, Vehicle Maintenance, or Repair.
  • Proven experience managing mechanical repair and workshop operations within the automotive industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, repair processes, and quality standards.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing workshop teams.
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance within a workshop environment.
  • Experience with Lean methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and business management systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards would be advantageous.

Interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organisational skills, including workflow planning, resource allocation, and capacity management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify efficiencies and improve operational performance.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on delivering high levels of quality, safety, and customer service.
