Technical Operations Network Engineer

Overview

In this role you will safeguard and optimize a secure, enterprise network supporting critical services across the UK. You will join the Technical Operations team to maintain and enhance Cisco, Fortinet, and Azure networking, aligning design work with security best practices. You’ll address vulnerability remediation and capabilities across WAN, LAN, Wi‑Fi, and firewall infrastructure, driving automation and efficiency. This position offers the chance to work on large-scale infrastructure projects within a highly regulated, secure environment. You’ll collaborate with cyber security teams and external providers to deliver resilient network services and improvements.

• Managing and supporting WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi and firewall infrastructure
• Maintaining Cisco and Fortinet network environments
• Supporting Azure networking services
• Reviewing technical designs and ensuring security best practice
• Working closely with Cyber Security teams on vulnerability remediation
• Managing network performance, capacity and availability
• Acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues
• Driving automation and operational improvements
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external service providers
• Supporting critical infrastructure services within a secure environment

• Strong Network Engineering experience
• Cisco routing and switching expertise
• Experience with Cisco ACI and FMG
• Strong Fortinet skills including FortiGate environments
• Azure networking experience
• Knowledge of BGP, VPNs, VLANs, DNS and DHCP
• Experience of network security technologies and firewalls
• Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds
• CCNA certification or equivalent
