Technical Platform Manager Technical Platform Manager – HPC & Digital Infrastructure

In this role you will own and evolve a complex HPC and digital infrastructure in a modern Bristol facility. You will lead a small engineering team, ensure platform stability, resilience and continuous improvement, and work closely with technical specialists and senior stakeholders. You will develop roadmaps, drive automation and DevOps practices, and manage upgrades, incidents and budgets. This is a hands-on leadership position focused on delivering reliable compute, storage and backend services at scale. You will be instrumental in strengthening operational standards and collaborating with suppliers to deliver platform improvements.

• Own HPC infrastructure, compute clusters, storage environments and backend services.
• Identify risks, boost resilience and address single points of failure.
• Lead and develop a technical team of three with direction and oversight.
• Manage upgrades, maintenance, incident response and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Establish operational standards and ITIL-aligned processes.
• Develop technical roadmaps with automation, monitoring and DevOps practices.
• Oversee infrastructure budgets and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders, technical teams and external suppliers to drive improvements.

• Strong experience in infrastructure management, technical operations or platform engineering.
• Experience with compute clusters, HPC, GPU infrastructure or complex compute/storage environments.
• Solid understanding of Linux, networking, backend services and modern infrastructure tech.
• Proven leadership of technical teams and infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of ITIL, systems operations, incident management and change control.
• Experience improving resilience, performance and efficiency of infrastructure.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and budget management skills.
• Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent experience, plus leadership training.
