Technical Project Manager — AI, Data & Cloud
Qubryx | United Kingdom | Fully remote | Full-time
We’re looking for a Technical Project Manager who can independently run client projects and still enjoys getting into the code.
You’ll lead AI, data, and cloud projects for clients in energy, oil and gas, and utilities, working with US-based stakeholders and our engineering teams in India. You’ll be responsible for delivery, client communication, and helping the team make sound technical decisions.
This role suits someone who started as a developer, technical lead, or solution architect and moved into project leadership while keeping their technical skills current. When the team gets stuck, you should be comfortable investigating the problem, suggesting a solution, reviewing code, or building a prototype to help move things forward.
What you’ll do
- Run projects independently, from initial requirements and planning through development, testing, release, and support.
- Lead AI project delivery, covering data requirements, development, evaluation, integration, and deployment.
- Work with clients to agree scope, priorities, milestones, and acceptance criteria, and manage changes throughout delivery.
- Keep project boards and backlogs current, assign work, track progress, and make sure responsibilities and deadlines are clear.
- Act as Scrum Master, facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. Remove blockers and help the team improve how it works.
- Stay involved in architecture and implementation discussions. Review designs and code, challenge estimates where needed, and help resolve technical issues promptly.
- Prepare and present client project updates, status reports, delivery plans, and proposals for resolving risks or changes.
- Coordinate developers, architects, data engineers, QA, and DevOps, managing dependencies and making sure decisions are followed through.
- Maintain clear communication between US clients and India-based teams, including documented decisions and effective handovers.
What we’re looking for
- 10+ years of technology experience , including at least 3 years in technical project or delivery management .
- A background as a developer, technical lead, or solution architect , with current coding ability and a continued interest in building software.
- Experience delivering AI projects into production or operational use. You should be able to explain your contribution, the challenges involved, and the results.
- Experience delivering technology projects in energy, oil and gas, or utilities. Experience in at least one of these sectors is required.
- A Scrum Master certification , such as CSM, PSM I or above, or equivalent, alongside practical experience leading Scrum teams.
- A track record of handling projects independently, making decisions, anticipating problems, and keeping clients and teams aligned.
- Practical experience working with AWS , including an understanding of cloud architecture, deployments, and operational support.
- Working knowledge of Git , branching, pull requests, code reviews, and release processes.
- Experience using project management tools to manage backlogs, sprints, task allocation, and delivery reporting.
- Strong technical understanding across applications, APIs, integrations, and data pipelines, with the ability to propose workable solutions when the team needs assistance.
- Strong presentation and writing skills. You can produce clear client presentations and status reports and discuss technical issues with business stakeholders.
- Confident use of Microsoft 365 , particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Word.
- Experience working with distributed engineering teams and directly managing client relationships.
Useful additional experience
- Kiro or similar AI-assisted development tools.
- Generative AI, AI agents, or ML-enabled applications.
- Data platforms, warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- CI/CD, containers, infrastructure as code, DevOps, or MLOps.
- Project budgeting, resource planning, and delivery forecasting.
Location and working hours
You must be based in the United Kingdom . The role is fully remote.
The working day will be arranged to provide overlap with our engineering teams in India and clients in the US. This will require a shifted UK schedule and availability for US client meetings. We’ll agree the specific hours and US time zones covered during recruitment.
Working at Qubryx
You’ll have responsibility for your projects and direct access to clients, engineering teams, and leadership. You’ll stay involved in technical work while leading delivery, with opportunities to take on broader responsibility as the business grows.
