Technical Solutions Architect

We’re working with an innovative financial technology business building a new platform within a highly regulated environment.

They’re looking for a Technical Solution Architect, or a strong Senior Engineer with the ambition to move into Solution Architecture , who can get under the hood of the existing product, bring structure to the technical architecture and take increasing ownership of system design and technical direction.

This is a slightly different architecture role to the usual “draw the diagrams and move on” position. The immediate focus is on understanding how the product works today, strengthening the technical documentation and creating greater structure and clarity around the architecture , working closely with Product and Engineering.

From there, there is genuine scope to grow into owning solution design, client-specific architecture and influencing wider technical and architectural decisions across the business.

What you'll be doing

• Get under the hood of the product and develop a strong understanding of the existing technical architecture
• Create, improve and maintain high-quality technical and architectural documentation
• Bring structure and clarity to system architecture, technical decisions and integration patterns
• Design and evolve scalable, secure distributed systems
• Own and develop APIs and integration patterns
• Translate complex business and product requirements into practical technical solutions
• Document and communicate architectural decisions, trade-offs and technical designs clearly
• Contribute to smart-contract / ledger-based components where relevant
• Work closely with Product and Engineering to shape how the platform evolves
• Contribute to production code, code reviews, testing, CI/CD and observability
• Progressively take ownership of solution design and technical direction

Tech

What we're looking for

• Strong software engineering background with experience designing and building products
• Solid distributed-systems and API design experience
• Exposure to blockchain, DLT or smart contracts
• Strong technical problem-solving and architectural thinking
• Demonstrable experience producing technical, system or architecture documentation
• Ability to take complex technical information and turn it into clear, structured documentation
• Experience working in financial services or another regulated environment is valuable
• Excellent communication — able to explain technical decisions to engineers, product teams and clients
• Someone comfortable working closely with Product and Engineering rather than operating purely at an architectural level
• Ambition to grow into broader Solution Architecture ownership
