Overview

As Technical Solutions Manager, you lead the route from reservoir construction to operational water supply, shaping strategies to fill and commission new reservoirs and integrate water quality and resource considerations. You will guide cross-functional teams across licensing, safety planning, and programme delivery to ensure reliable drinking water. This is a leadership role with a clear impact on securing high-quality water supplies for generations. You will work within the Technical Solutions directorate to drive cost-effective, timely, and compliant delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strategy, structures and processes to fill, commission and bring reservoirs into water supply
  • Lead water quality and water resources workstreams with clear direction across the programme
  • Translate regulatory and operational requirements into actionable delivery plans, budgets and schedules
  • Manage delivery against scope, cost, programme, quality and safety requirements
  • Incorporate abstraction licensing and drinking water safety planning into programme decisions
  • Establish governance, risk, change and performance-management across workstreams
  • Align technical specialists, operational teams, delivery partners and regulators
  • Provide reporting and assurance to senior leaders and drive continuous improvement
Key requirements
  • Significant project or programme management experience
  • Strong delivery orientation turning objectives into structured plans and outcomes
  • Leadership experience with team building and accountability
  • Knowledge or practical experience of drinking water quality and water resources
  • Understanding of abstraction licences and licensing implications for planning and delivery
  • Experience of drinking water safety planning
  • Strong risk, change, schedule, cost and performance-management capability
