Overview

As Technical Specialist in Infrastructure Services, you own and improve Kingfisher’s enterprise storage, backup and storage networking platforms to keep services secure, resilient, and high-performing. You’ll manage operational delivery to SLAs, handle incidents and changes, and collaborate across IT with architecture, security and suppliers to drive upgrades and automation. The role is based near Southampton with a hybrid work pattern and a weekly on-call rotation for out-of-hours support. This position offers a meaningful chance to shape critical data and storage foundations across the group.

Responsibilities
  • Own and support enterprise storage, backup and storage networking platforms to deliver secure, resilient, high-performing services
  • Operational management of storage services in line with SLAs and performance metrics
  • Lead incidents, problems, changes and major incidents to improve service stability and drive improvements
  • Monitor capacity, performance and lifecycle to ensure scalability and cost-effectiveness
  • Administer and optimize block, file and object storage (volumes, shares, snapshots, replication)
  • Support backup, recovery and disaster recovery services including testing and validation
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, architecture, security and suppliers on improvements, upgrades, migrations and automation initiatives
Key requirements
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage environments (block, file, object)
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp, HPE or IBM storage platforms
  • Experience managing file shares, NFS exports, volumes, snapshots and replication
  • Strong knowledge of backup, recovery and DR technologies including cloud data protection
  • Experience supporting SAN environments (Fibre Channel, zoning, multipathing, performance)
  • Good working knowledge of Windows, Linux, VMware and automation or scripting tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with production service experience in incident/problem/change management
