Overview

In this role you will support the Biological Heritage Sites (BHS) system and ecologists, using your data management and GIS skills to improve nature conservation work in Lancashire. You will work with the BHS team and LERN to maintain records, assist with site surveys, and provide land management and grant advice where appropriate. The role combines administrative duties with data-centric tasks and stakeholder engagement, offering exposure to ecological practices and conservation policy. This position sits within a collaborative network that shapes local environment evidence and decision making, with flexible working options.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and update the Biological Heritage Sites (BHS) data system
  • Assist ecologists with field and administrative tasks
  • Perform data management activities including GIS-related tasks
  • Support stakeholders and provide information on site management and grants
  • Collaborate with the Lancashire Environment Record Network (LERN) and LNRS-related colleagues
  • Contribute to site surveys and data reporting
  • Coordinate cross-team information flow for environmental evidence
  • Maintain attention to detail and high quality records
Key requirements
