How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:The Technologist, Engineering provides technical advice, planning, coordination and site inspections; playing an integral role in the delivery of capital infrastructure, facility improvements and various construction projects. The role also involves monitoring contractor activities on-site to ensure work is progressing in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, safety requirements and applicable standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise, ensuring adherence to project plans and day-to-day project coordination.Provides support to the project lead relating to the day-to-day management of contractor’s during construction implementationWorks with teams to ensure compliance with plan design, health and safety and other regulatory requirementsConducts site visits including project start up, progress of implementation, contingency planning and close outMaintains and organizes digitized files to support the Project Team including daily inspection reportsThis role works collaboratively Project Managers and Managers, to determine and develop appropriate reports, briefs, procurements and other stakeholder related correspondence materials.Prepares and format correspondence, project briefs and reports of a general and technical nature for both internal and external audiencesCoordinates the full scope of procurement of project supplies and contractorservices, including preparation and completion of RFT’s RFP’s, VORS etc.Supports with the coordination of requests for comments on draft reports or interim results, including the compilation of received comments, reviewing and documenting responsesIncumbents may also be assigned other duties

What will you need to succeed:Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction/Contract Management or a related field or equivalent experienceValid Ontario Class G2 driver's license

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in civil or environmental construction

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

  • Able to comprehend documentation that is technical or scientific in nature, skilled in writing technical reports or manualsExperience with end-to-end procurement processesExcellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiencesKnowledge of best management practices, and up-to‑date knowledge of mitigation and controls, as well as safe work proceduresAble to self‑manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlinesKnowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities ActProficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint; advanced MS Excel capabilities for analysis, data visualization
