Technology Lead (Remote - UK)

In this Tech Lead role, you will serve as a senior technical voice, owning mission-critical services end-to-end and shaping architecture in AWS-native platforms. You’ll mentor engineers, raise engineering standards, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams to drive impactful initiatives. Your work will span design, implementation, testing, security, and reliability to deliver scalable cloud solutions. • Own system design for complex, high-impact initiatives from analysis through implementation
• Take end-to-end ownership of mission-critical services ensuring reliability and scalability
• Manage and reduce technical debt strategically
• Design cost-efficient, cloud-native solutions
• Set and uphold standards for code quality, testing, observability, security, and documentation
• Champion automated testing and shift-left quality practices
• Promote DevSecOps principles to embed security and compliance
• Lead through code reviews, design docs, and retrospectives
• Drive delivery of complex, multi-phase initiatives
• Partner with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and Architects to shape the technical roadmap
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Identify risks early and remove blockers
• Build and evolve AWS-based, cloud-native systems (Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, SQS, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
• Own both application code and infrastructure (Infrastructure as Code, e.g., Terraform)
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments
• Support incident response and reliability improvements
• Provide technical mentorship and architectural guidance
• Support hiring and onboarding of engineers
• Encourage adoption of AI-assisted development tools

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Senior Engineer owning complex systems in production
• Strong hands-on AWS experience and cloud-native architecture expertise
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, Node.js, etc.)
• Deep understanding of system design, distributed systems, scalability, APIs, and data modeling
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
• Strong CI/CD and observability experience
• Experience implementing robust testing strategies
• Comfortable working cross-functionally in Agile environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations
