Telecommunications Network Administrator

- Install, configure, administer, maintain, and support network and telecommunications infrastructure
- Analyze requirements and contribute to the evaluation and selection of appropriate technology solutions
- Monitor the performance, availability, and service continuity of telecommunications services
- Diagnose incidents, determine the root causes of failures, and implement corrective measures
- Plan, conduct, and document technical testing, particularly related to security and vulnerabilities
- Install, replace, or remove telecommunications equipment while considering impacts on the technology environment
- Analyze performance data, recommend improvements, and contribute to capacity planning
- Write and maintain technical documentation, procedures, reference guides, and other deliverables
- Track, classify, and analyze incidents and service interruptions
- Manage, organize, and optimize the physical facilities of server rooms and telecommunications rooms
- Reporting to the Division Manager, act as the front-line expert in telecommunications networks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent in computer science, telecommunications, or another relevant field
- Two years of experience related to the position’s responsibilities, primarily in the administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of telecommunications networks
- Knowledge of telecommunications technologies and infrastructure (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, and network services)
- Knowledge of switching and routing protocols (VLAN, STP, OSPF, BGP)
- Knowledge of network security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, encryption, authentication, and logging)
- Knowledge of network services such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and VPN
- Knowledge of high availability, redundancy, service continuity, and disaster recovery concepts as applied to telecommunications infrastructure
- Knowledge of enterprise wireless networking technologies and their security mechanisms
- Knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, and Barracuda equipment and management platforms
- Cisco certification (CCNA) is an asset
