Telecommunications Solutions Engineer

Our client, a growing telecommunications provider, is looking for a Solutions Engineer to support its expanding customer base across Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong networking foundation who enjoys solving problems, working with customers and turning business needs into practical technical solutions.

This is not a quota-carrying sales role—it’s a technical position that works closely with Sales and customers to help design the right solution.

The Role

As Solutions Engineer, you’ll be the technical resource supporting the sales process, working with customers to understand their requirements and develop solutions that are technically sound, practical and cost-effective.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with Sales to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate technical solutions
• Designing solutions involving business internet, fibre connectivity, managed Wi‑Fi, IP networking, wireless, voice/VoIP and managed services
• Creating network diagrams, technical proposals and solution documentation
• Participating in customer meetings, discovery sessions and technical presentations
• Explaining technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical customers
• Supporting RFPs, RFIs, quotes and scopes of work
• Collaborating with Engineering, Operations and Network Planning to confirm solution feasibility
• Identifying technical requirements, risks and dependencies before implementation
• Supporting the handoff of approved solutions from Sales to delivery

Based in Regina, this position will support customers across Saskatchewan and into Manitoba, with travel throughout the territory as required.

The Person

You may already be working as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer or Network Specialist—or you may be in a networking role and looking for an opportunity to become more customer-facing.

We’re looking for:

• A solid understanding of networking, routing, switching and telecommunications technologies
• Exposure to fibre, Ethernet, managed Wi‑Fi, IP networking, wireless and/or VoIP
• Experience creating network diagrams using Visio or similar tools
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• The ability to translate technical information into clear, straightforward language
• A collaborative, customer-focused approach
• A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the territory

Education in Networking, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field would be an asset, as would industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP or equivalent credentials.

Compensation includes:

• $70,000–$90,000 base salary, depending on experience
• Approximately 10% corporate bonus opportunity
• No individual sales quota
• Mileage reimbursement, with additional vehicle arrangements to be confirmed (either a vehicle allowance or a company car will be provided)
