Overview

In this role, you will lead automation efforts to support Scrum teams and enable an automation-first approach. You’ll extend and maintain test frameworks, explore new tooling, and ensure rapid, reliable testing across a growing portfolio. You’ll drive best practices, collaborate with the QA Centre of Excellence, and mentor team members to uplift the testing capability. This is a chance to shape our test automation capabilities within a fast-paced, data-driven, digital insurance environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide automation capabilities to support Scrum Teams and the Automation Only approach, extending automation frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance/test automation tooling and support evaluation, decision-making, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Maintain tooling to meet growing demand and enable early, continuous testing by Scrum Teams.
  • Deliver timely and accurate Test Automation MI and quality measures to support continuous improvement.
  • Define and maintain test automation best practices and drive collaboration within Scrum Teams and the QA community via the Centre of Excellence and engagement activities.
  • Mentor direct reports, junior staff, and new joiners to develop necessary competencies.
Key requirements
  • Proficient practical experience in Testing Automation
  • Extensive experience in an agile environment
  • Transformational leadership skills with ability to influence tooling/process changes
  • Strong mentoring skills for staff development
  • Proficient with Jira or Octane for backlog/test case management
  • Excellent knowledge of declarative Gherkin for business rules and automated tests with Cucumber
  • Strong coding skills in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#
  • Experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium, Selenium Grid, Playwright, or Cypress
  • Ability to test APIs via code or tools like SoapUI, Postman
  • Experience with CI platforms such as AzureDevOps or Jenkins
