Test Automaton Engineer

In this role you will define, develop, and maintain manual and automated test approaches to ensure secure, reliable technical solutions. You will design Python-based test automation frameworks and work with AWS-hosted services and databases. You will assess security controls and provide evidence-based findings to support remediation. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams to ensure quality across the full testing lifecycle and influence testing approaches in a security-minded, defence-focused environment.

• Define, develop, execute and maintain manual and automated test approaches across functional, integration, system and regression testing
• Design and implement scalable Python test automation frameworks, reusable libraries and utilities
• Test AWS-hosted services and applications, including interfaces, data flows, permissions, logging and operational behaviour
• Plan and perform security testing against CIS Security Controls and Safeguards with evidence of control implementation
• Assess security controls across AWS, applications, databases and infrastructure including IAM, logging and data protection
• Document security test plans, traceability, findings, evidence and remediation recommendations, and retest
• Validate relational and/or non-relational databases via data interrogation and backend testing
• Analyze requirements and risk-based priorities to determine test coverage
• Investigate failures, identify root causes and coordinate with engineering for resolution and retest
• Produce test plans, cases, automation assets, evidence and completion reports
• Support estimation, planning, and continuous improvement of test practices and tooling
• Provide technical guidance and review to less experienced staff
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders

• Manual testing experience (analysis, design, execution, defect management)
• Proven experience creating/maintaining automated tests with Python
• Hands-on testing of AWS-hosted applications
• Security testing experience focused on CIS Controls and Safeguards
• Experience testing security controls in cloud/hybrid environments (IAM, logging, vulnerability management, data protection)
• Strong SQL/database testing skills for data validation and fault investigation
• Ability to solve difficult/unclear testing problems through analysis and collaboration
• Deep understanding of software testing principles and lifecycle
• Broad awareness of related engineering disciplines (security, deployment)
