Overview

In this role you will plan, execute and supervise tests to ensure LV switchgear and control panels meet technical, safety and project requirements. You will collaborate across design, production and delivery teams to support test activities and FATs, while maintaining compliance with industry standards. You’ll tackle root-cause analysis of test failures and keep meticulous records to support quality assurance. This position offers the chance to contribute to safe, reliable electrical infrastructure across UK sites.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts
  • Perform functional, system, and integration testing for LV switchgear and control panels
  • Troubleshoot test failures; identify root causes and support corrective actions
  • Conduct inspections, reviews, and verifications of products and installations
  • Record and document test results, non-conformances, deviations, and observations
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, production, and project delivery teams to meet timelines
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and provide technical input
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures and maintain a safe working environment
  • Keep up to date with industry standards, testing methodologies, and regulatory requirements
Key requirements
  • Experience in testing or commissioning within LV switchgear, electrical engineering, control systems, or related sectors
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and relevant standards (e.g., BS EN 61439, BS7671)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications
  • High level of attention to detail with a methodical and accurate approach to testing
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with IT systems and common office/testing software tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines
