Overview

As a Test Manager in a hybrid role in Fareham, you will lead the overall testing and acceptance approach for a critical IT application and infrastructure project. You collaborate with customers, suppliers and delivery teams to ensure quality and timely delivery, manage risks, and drive assurance across the project lifecycle. You will design scalable test strategies, mentor testers, and report on progress, enabling successful outcomes in complex technology programmes. This role offers impactful work shaping testing across integrated systems and data platforms within a mission-focused organization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the test and acceptance strategy across the programme
  • Coordinate integration, testing and acceptance activities throughout delivery
  • Develop scalable test approaches including automated and manual testing
  • Create and maintain test plans, designs, procedures and supporting docs
  • Ensure requirements are fully tested and covered
  • Identify and manage testing risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers and delivery teams to provide test assurance
  • Work with developers and data engineers to understand system function and improve coverage
  • Manage defect lifecycle including investigation, prioritisation, reporting and trend analysis
  • Produce clear test reports and acceptance evidence
  • Mentor and develop other testers
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key requirements
  • Experience leading test activities in complex technology, transformation or systems integration programmes
  • Strong understanding of software testing lifecycle and test methodologies
  • Experience with both manual and automated testing
  • Coaching across functional, non-functional, integration and acceptance testing
  • Experience testing integrated solutions involving third-party systems, databases and data platforms
  • Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and drive outcomes
  • Ownership of testing delivery and quality assurance activities
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts
  • Analytical and proactive problem-solving approach
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
  • ISTQB certifications welcomed but not essential
