About The Position

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this is an intermediate level positionwhich is part of the merchandising team for the location. The position, actingas part of the team, will be accountable for trading activities with the crushasset - buying soybeans, canola seed, selling soymeal, soy hulls and canolameal. The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationshipswith accounts, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and othercustomer related issues. As an intermediate member of the merchandising team,this position requires a higher level of strategic thinking as they will be leadon our trading strategies for both product lines (soy and canola crush).

This is a pivotal role within the Windsor office and, as such, requires acandidate with strong trading acumen, excellent interpersonal and leadershipskills and an appetite to learn.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepare & analyze basic profit & loss and other divisional month end reports
• Strategically seeks out new business that would profitably enhance company assets
• Builds & maintains relationships with a wide range of customers, including premium and volume accounts
• Understands customer requirements in order to collaborate and add value to both companies
• Prepare & present reports to management detailing customer issues and opportunities
• Maintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in files
• Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service
• Attends internal training sessions to learn more advanced merchandising skills and systems
• Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics
• Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities
• Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service
• Works to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically
• Develops a clear understanding of local, national, world market, and trends
• Aggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information
• Actively uses customer database programs to document account activity and acquire marketing trends
• Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing
• Understanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics
• Develops a clear understanding and working knowledge of ADM information systems & ability to train others
• Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies, safety systems, and programs
• Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals
• Constantly works on individual and personal development within the company
• Develops good understanding of local plant operations
• Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions and responsibilities

Knowledge & Skills

• University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance,accounting), supplemented with a minimum of three years of experience incommodity trading.
• Regional experience will be considered an asset.
• Strong working knowledge of futures / spreads / forex will be considered an asset.
• Experience with vessel freight and export markets will be considered an asset.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment.Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic and international trade.
• Proven ability to succeed within a team based work environment. This rolerequires strong collaboration skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships withend-users, suppliers, and internal customers.
• Ability to lead and help develop peers.
• Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet,database, and word processing software.
• Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies and safety programs

The pay range for this position is: $73,000-$110,250. This position is eligiblefor an annual bonus incentive, payout is based on company and individualperformance.
