Overview

As a Trading Systems Engineer, you will design, automate, and optimize the Linux-based infrastructure that powers HRT’s real-time trading environment. You will work with a cross-functional team to ensure high availability and ultra-low latency for production systems, tools, and upgrades. You’ll tackle challenging issues in a fast-paced setting and drive efficient, elegant automation across the stack. This role offers the chance to shape the performance of a global trading platform and collaborate with mentors and engineers across the company.

Responsibilities
  • Design, manage, automate, and optimize worldwide Linux-based trading infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across the stack
  • Design and implement system installations and upgrades
  • Deploy, configure, and test internal and external applications
  • Resolve production-critical issues swiftly and efficiently
  • Benchmark and tune the performance of the trading stack
  • Hold vendors accountable on performance and reliability during escalations
  • Join an on-call rotation to cover trading hours and weekends as needed
Key requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in a live production environment (trading preferred)
  • Expertise in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux systems (hardware, networking, kernel, applications)
  • Knowledge of Debian/Ubuntu desirable
  • Proficiency with configuration management tools (SaltStack strongly preferred; Puppet/Ansible/Chef/CFEngine desirable)
  • Advanced programming for automation and integration; Python strongly preferred
  • Advanced shell scripting (bash)
  • Significant experience managing and debugging production trading services
  • Strong cross-functional communication and organization skills
  • Experience using Jira for project management
  • Architect-level cloud experience in AWS or GCP desirable but not required
