Overview

In this hands-on engineering role, you will provide technical expertise for Unix/Linux environments within the managed services context. You’ll support incident resolution, drive root-cause analysis, and guide technical delivery to meet customer expectations. You’ll contribute to technical documentation, service improvements, and cross-team collaboration to uphold high standards. This position offers impact through ensuring stable, secure, and well-documented infrastructure across complex multi-site environments.

Responsibilities
  • Support advanced troubleshooting of incidents in customer environments
  • Serve as technical resource for major Unix/Linux incidents
  • Manage incidents within agreed service levels and perform root-cause analysis
  • Assist projects to align technical solutions with customer requirements
  • Document technical work to professional standards and contribute to knowledge sharing
  • Identify technical problems and opportunities for service improvements
  • Log calls with third-party vendors and manage resolutions or escalations
  • Ensure proper configuration of all technical components within the tower
  • Contribute to technical excellence across the Infrastructure team
  • Align with managed service leadership on technical and service goals
Key requirements
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux operating systems in technical support roles
  • Proficiency administering multiple Unix/Linux platforms (RHEL, HP-UX, SLES, Solaris, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian)
  • Experience with LDAP/BIND/Ignite Administration
  • Understanding of network services, storage, virtualization, IAM in a Unix environment
  • Ability to create and develop shell scripts
  • Experience deploying and managing security and patching (e.g., Red Hat Satellite)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-site incidents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience using Service Desk tools for incidents/changes/problems and reporting
  • ITIL qualification
  • Professional IT certifications related to Unix/Linux
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Conflict management and stakeholder management
  • Unix/Linux administration (RHEL, HP-UX, SLES, Solaris, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian)
  • LDAP/Ignite administration
  • Shell scripting
