Community Highlights

  • Outdoors at your doorstep. Mount Helena City Park and an extensive trail system start right in town, with hiking and mountain biking minutes from home. Snow skiing 2 minutes from Helena. The Missouri River and nearby Canyon Ferry, Hauser, and Holter lakes offer boating, paddling, and blue-ribbon fly fishing. The Gates of the Mountains, a dramatic canyon stretch of the Missouri, is a short drive north.
  • Four-season recreation. 4 mountain ranges, 5 lakes, and Great Divide Ski Area are close by for winter days, and Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks are each a few hours' drive away.
  • History and culture. The historic downtown along Last Chance Gulch, the Cathedral of St. Helena and the Montana State Capitol give the city a distinctive character. Local arts venues, breweries and restaurants make a lively downtown.
  • Family and education. Helena offers well-regarded public and private schools; some of the schools are among the highest-ranked in the state.
  • Easy to get around. Commutes are short, and Helena Regional Airport provides direct flights to major western hubs.
