User Researcher - NHS / Public Sector Contract: 6 months IR35: Inside IR35 Day Rate: Negotiable, dependent on experience Working Pattern: Hybrid Clearance: Active SC clearance required We are looking for an experienced User Researcher to join a high-profile NHS programme on an initial 6-month contract. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary digital team, helping to ensure services are designed around genuine user needs. Youll plan and deliver user research across the service lifecycle, turning research findings into clear, actionable insights that inform service design and delivery. Key responsibilities Plan, design and conduct user research using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods. Understand user needs, behaviours, motivations and pain points across complex services. Conduct interviews, usability testing, contextual research and other appropriate research activities. Analyse and synthesise findings, identifying patterns and translating evidence into actionable recommendations. Work closely with service designers, interaction designers, product managers, business analysts and other multidisciplinary colleagues. Communicate research findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Champion user-centred design and ensure user needs remain central to decision-making. Support the delivery of accessible and inclusive digital services. Work effectively within an Agile delivery environment. Experience required Were looking for someone with: Strong experience working as a User Researcher within complex digital programmes . Previous experience within the NHS, healthcare or wider public sector would be highly desirable. Strong knowledge of user-centred design principles and research methodologies. Experience conducting research with a diverse range of users, including users with accessibility needs. Experience working within multidisciplinary Agile teams. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Familiarity with GDS standards and service assessment principles would be advantageous. Security clearance Due to the nature and timescales of the programme, candidates must hold active SC clearance that can be utilised for this assignment . Unfortunately, the project is unable to accommodate candidates who would need to obtain SC clearance from the outset.
