Overview

In this role you will shape VodafoneThree’s transport network by designing and optimizing a converged IP/MPLS backbone that supports diverse services. You will collaborate across engineering, operations, security, and partners to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure network solutions. You’ll influence IP/MPLS, SDN, and transport roadmaps while integrating legacy networks and driving automation initiatives. This is a fast-paced role at the heart of our digital-outreach mission to connect communities and power a better UK network experience.

Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize core, aggregation, and backhaul IP networks.
  • Contribute to evolution of IP/MPLS, SDN, and transport architectures and roadmaps.
  • Support integration of legacy Vodafone and Three transport networks for interoperability.
  • Develop IP services across VodafoneThree’s transport infrastructure.
  • Advance network automation, service management, and configuration platforms.
  • Lead testing activities for transport infrastructure and services, including automated testing.
  • Ensure capacity planning, lifecycle management, and configuration governance.
  • Collaborate with build, operations, cybersecurity, and engineering teams on projects.
  • Coordinate with strategic vendors, service integrators, and external partners.
Key requirements
  • SC Clearance is essential
  • Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years experience in transport network engineering within telecoms
  • Strong IP/MPLS and transport networking expertise (optical, microwave, SDH, Ethernet)
  • Knowledge of SDN, NFV, cloud networking, 5G transport technologies, and emerging architectures
  • Experience with network automation, orchestration, and operational tooling
  • Familiarity with telecoms regulations, security standards, and compliance frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills
