VoIP Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced VoIP Systems Engineer to design, implement, and optimize their Voice over IP infrastructure in Kimberley . This role is essential for delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable voice communication services to clients. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of VoIP systems, from initial design and configuration to ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate possesses a deep technical understanding of VoIP protocols and technologies, coupled with strong problem-solving skills, and is passionate about creating efficient and robust communication solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-level VoIP solutions using platforms like Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or commercial PBX systems.
• Manage SIP trunking, call routing, and integration with other communication platforms.
• Monitor VoIP system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex voice quality issues, network latency, and endpoint connectivity problems.
• Ensure the security and resilience of the VoIP infrastructure.
• Develop documentation for VoIP system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience focused specifically on VoIP systems engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of VoIP protocols such as SIP, H.323, RTP, and RTCP.
• Experience with call control platforms, session border controllers (SBCs), and voicemail systems.
• Strong understanding of IP networking, QoS, and network security principles.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming for automation is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable working remotely.
