Wastewater Treatment Performance Engineer

In this role you will act as the custodian of DTM alert logic, turning data into actionable insight to reduce failures and strengthen resilience. You’ll work within the Operational Intelligence team in Blackburn to develop predictive, whole-system performance across networks and treatment works. You’ll translate complex data into clear actions, enabling proactive responses rather than reactive fixes. This is a growth role that shapes data-led decision making and supports the transformation of wastewater operations.

- Own and optimise DTM alert logic to ensure meaningful signals drive the right actions
- Establish governance frameworks for consistent, reliable alerts aligned with priorities
- Support development and embedding of Dynamic Treatment Management capabilities
- Use data and insight to improve treatment performance and reduce risk
- Contribute to a whole-system view linking network and treatment performance
- Continuously improve how alerts are interpreted and responses are defined
- Identify opportunities to enhance DTM capability and predictive performance
- Champion data accuracy and ownership of DTM systems
- Translate alerts into practical, timely actions with maintenance teams
- Support incident understanding, reporting and regulatory compliance with data-led analysis
- HNC in process engineering, or significant hands-on wastewater operations experience
- Experience within wastewater treatment environments is essential
- Strong problem-solving with IT systems that support operations
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to translate data for technical and non-technical audiences
